It has been quite some time since Charlotte has slept in her own bed. Eric and I got suuuuuper lazy and just let her fall asleep in our bed for too long and therefore when we attempted to get her back in her own bed she staged a screaming revolution and almost sent us over the brink last Saturday night. However I was determined to get this child back in her IKEA bed prison, even if she ended up in my bed at some point in the night anyway. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I have been successful. For only two nights so far, BUT I HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL!
On Monday night she walked in her room without any problems. I actually texted our babysitter and asked if she reprogrammed my child, because it was mind boggling at how easy it was to get her in her room. It took me 40 minutes to get her to actually go to sleep, but she did! I then remembered she fell and hit her head while we were playing so I thought perhaps she was concussed and therefore gave me no troubles. But a win is a win, right?
Last night she went to bed in her own room AGAIN and stayed in there until 1 AM. Which is an even bigger victory for me, because on Tuesday night she was up by 10:45 and then we had to have a middle of the night concert from 2:52 AM – 4:00 AM of ONLY the song Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid. And every time I started to doze off she would croak out at me: “I said mommy sing.” And so I sang. She has ruined that song for me. RUINED IT.
It may be ridiculous that I have an almost three year old (WHAT) who still wakes up in the middle of the night, but these are small victories for me and I know I can’t be alone in this. Right? RIGHT?!
