I obviously never forget that I’m a mom. Charlotte is pretty much on my mind every second of every day, but there are some times that I relish having me time. Oddly enough, as much as I loathe it with every fiber of my being, commuting is a part of that me time. I’m able to put on my iPod and read my book (OUTLANDER FOREVER!) and spend an hour or so just doing what I like to do. I’ve got a shit ton of albums on my phone to listen to and I’m always ready to read. Except now, when I put my phone on shuffle, the music app starts to recognize the songs that I play the most and start to play those one right after another. What are these songs you ask? Well it’s the two albums that Charlotte loves to listen to over. And over. And over again. Elmo’s Greatest Hits and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse soundtrack. So now if I put my music on shuffle I get barraged with “Mousker Hey Mousker High Mousker HO!” and “LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA ELMO’S SONGGGGGGGG.” This morning we went from a song from the greatest musical soundtrack of all time, Hamilton, to “HAPPY TAPPIN’ WITH ELMOOOOO” and it just fucked up my whole commute.
Elmo, Mickey & Charlotte. My constant companions.
